Oklahoma: Blood and Sky

Gallery Saintonge is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibit oklahoma: BLOOD AND SKY with photographs by Joshua Meier.
Meier returns to his roots to explore, photographically, the place of his upbringing: northwest Oklahoma. For Meier, “these landscapes are like mental metaphors, reflecting back to a time of imagination and wonder as well as lies and loss”. Meier invites the viewers into this quiet space, where his landscapes appear to be captured in slow passing, conjuring a feeling somewhere between soaring and sleepwalking.
For this body of work Meier starts with a classic black and white, large format image, which he then transfers to printmaking paper through a process called solar gravure, producing truly unique prints.
He has had exhibitions in Chicago, Austin, Lexington, Virginia, and in his hometown of Claremore, Oklahoma, where he lives, with his wife and daughter.
This is Meier’s second time showing work in gallery Saintonge, though it is his first solo exhibition with us.
