Innovation Initiative Open Hours: Dave Smith / Growing a Business

Description:
Having gone through the process of starting a business and growing it to over 50 employees, Dave can share his experiences covering the writing of a business plan, presenting to potential investors, recruitment, plan execution, leadership and retention challenges, issues of growth and delegation, business acquisitions and investor/shareholder management.
Dave has been working for 24 years in credit cards and consumer financial services. He worked for 10 years with GE Capital, based in the U.K, the U.S. and Austria before becoming the Director of Risk at the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in their Cards division in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Dave left RBS in 2000 to start-up a new credit card business SAV Credit Ltd. Raising capital from VCs and Private Equity houses, the business was built up over 10 years to be one of the Top 20 credit card companies in the UK. Growth was achieved through new account origination as well as the acquisition of other card portfolios.
In 2010, Dave and his family relocated to Missoula and he has continued to work in financial services as a consultant advising his previous company as well as other organizations on M&A deals.
