Innovation Initiative Expert on Site: Zachary Scott / Patent Agent

Our Expert on Site series continues with Zachary Scott, a registered patent agent. This series connects entrepreneurs to area experts for individual consulting, free.
As a patent agent and former research scientist, Zach has worked to help inventors build strong patent portfolios for over 5 years. Participants will have the opportunity to: learn about the various types of intellectual property ("IP") protection (i.e., patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret); determine which type(s) of IP protection best fits their business model and goals; discuss the current IP landscape and the importance of freedom-to-operate analysis; and explore the benefits and costs associated with building a strong, goal-oriented IP position.
After graduating from Dartmouth College, Zach received his Ph.D. in Immunology / Virology from The University of Massachusetts Medical School for his studies on pediatric HIV infection and vaccine design. Following a post-doctoral fellowship in transplantation immunology at Dartmouth Medical School, Zach joined a patent law firm in Boston.
Zach has worked with academic, corporate, and individual clients and inventors in all aspects of patent prosecution, including the performance of due diligence analysis (freedom to operate, patent validity, and infringement).
Zach is available for half hour individual sessions. Consults are held in the MonTEC conference room at 1121 East Broadway.
