Evening Lecture - Fire on the Land: A Tribal Perspective
For thousands of years, the Salish, Pend d'Oreille, and other tribes of the Northern Rockies periodically set fire to the land, profoundly shaping plant and animal communities.

Join Tony Harwood, Salish-Kootenai Tribe Fire Management Division Manager, for a  look at the many ways that the Salish-Kootenai used fire. An interesting perspective on how past managed fire practices shaped the land for renewed productivity.

This lecture is co-sponsored by the Montana Natural History Center and the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula in conjunction with the exhibit "When the Mountains Roared: The Fire of 1910," opening on March 28th.
