Fire on the Land: A Tribal Perspective

Description:
Evening Lecture - Fire
on the Land: A Tribal Perspective
For thousands of years, the Salish, Pend d'Oreille, and other tribes of the
Northern Rockies periodically set fire to the land, profoundly shaping plant
and animal communities.
Join Tony Harwood,
Salish-Kootenai Tribe Fire Management Division Manager, for a look at the
many ways that the Salish-Kootenai used fire. An interesting perspective on how
past managed fire practices shaped the land for renewed productivity.
