Description:
Established by H.G. Merriam, Professor Emeritus of English, the Merriam-Frontier Award recognizes distinguished achievement in student writing. The award consists of a prize of $500 and funds to publish a chapbook of the winning entry. Open to both graduate and undergraduate students of The University of Montana, entries are called for during fall semester and judged by a committee of local writers (Bridget Carson, Ginny Merriam and Lois Welch). The student selected this year is Khaty Xiong. She will read from her winning poetry manuscript in the Poetry Corner of the Mansfield Library, 5th floor.
