24th Annual Great Northern Celebrity Bowling Pin Shoot
10:00 AM Deer Creek Shooting Center
Description:
The Montana Shooting Sports Association will hold the 24th Annual Great
Northern Celebrity Bowling Pin Shoot at the Deer Creek Shooting Center,
near East Missoula, on Sunday, July 27th, beginning at 10 AM. This
event is to raise funds to support the right to keep and bear arms.
MSSA is the primary organization asserting the rights of gun owners
and hunters in Montana.
Bowling pin shooting is designed to be fun and “shootable” for novice
shooters. Spectators are welcome but must have eye and ear protection.
There will be events for single-action revolvers, double-action
revolvers, autoloading pistols, pump shotguns, autoloading shotguns,
lever-action rifles, .22 pistols, .22 rifles, a new and special 9mm
auto event (“Nine Pins”). For the handgun, shotgun, lever-action, and
.22 events, the shooter will face five standard bowling pins at 21 feet
on a 4’x8’ table and attempt to shoot them off as quickly as possible
(or to knock them over with the .22s). Each entrant will get three
runs at the pin table per gun - the best two count for score.
There will also be the ever-popular “Ban Baucus Assault Rifle Event”.
In this event, shooters with centerfire, autoloading rifles (any
caliber, any sights) will attempt to quickly burst five pop cans at 30
yards shooting offhand. Each entrant will get only one run at this
event per entrance fee. This course will also be fired as a separate
event with center-fire, bolt-action “hunting” rifles (any caliber, any
sights).
Participants may enter one, more, or all events for $6 per event.
Since this if a fundraising event, shooters may enter each event more
than once. There may also be a team event near the end of the shooting
day, time permitting, where a team of three shooters will engage two
tables of a total of ten pins. One shooter will use a shotgun, one a
revolver, and one an autopistol.
A mandatory safety meeting will be held for all shooters at 10 AM (and
again at noon for late arrivals). We’ll keep shooting until around
4PM, depending on the number of participants.
