Gallery Saintonge is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibit Shambolic Sanctuary, with recent work by local Missoula artist Marty Fromm.
Marty Fromm’s dark and emotionally dense mixed media sculptural constructions incorporate found objects with photography. His pseudo-dioramas, or mini installations, convey haunting visual descriptors of the human psyche. The pieces appear weathered as if from the passage of time through human existence. Through recalling personal past relationships, and interpreting unknown found faces, Fromm explores his subjects’ innermost ghosts, capturing them in his work as if in a sort of asylum.
Marty Fromm has taught at The University of Montana in the Fine Arts department, as well as in the Media Arts department for over fifteen years. Before receiving a degree in photography, Fromm earned a B.S. in Journalism and often accompanies his written work with photographs. His work has been exhibited from New York to Seattle, and has appeared on book and magazine covers, including The University of Montana’s literary journal Cutbank. This is Fromm’s first exhibit with the Gallery Saintonge.
