Lindy Hop Workshop with Peter Flahiff
12:00 PM     View Venue PageDowntown Dance Collective

Description:
Come spend an afternoon (October 13th) with Master Teacher Peter Flahiff of Seattle!

This workshop will be all about Lindy Hop. Lindy Hop is the classic swing dance from the original swing era! Originally developed in Harlem in New York City, the Lindy Hop swept the nation. Danced with a mixture of six-count and eight-count rhythms, Lindy is a very versatile and musical dance that will keep you coming back for more. It can be smooth, it can be crazy, it's easy to learn but you can keep learning and improving forever, if you want to! The Lindy Hop was called lots of things over the years (Swing, Jitterbug, The Lindy and more) and is the mother dance from which East Coast Swing and West Coast Swing derive, as well as the several ballroom and European versions (Jive, Rock and Roll dancing, Boogie-Woogie, etc.)

To take this workshop, you should already be familiar with the basics of Lindy Hop: the Swing Out, Lindy Circle, 6-Count moves (also known as East Coast Swing) and Swing Charleston. We will NOT be teaching these moves from scratch so please make sure you have them down! We are lucky enough to have FIVE HOURS to work together (with a lunch break, of course) so we will be able to cover a lot of great material, including fresh concepts in technique, style and some awesome moves and combos!

Details: October 13th, noon to 5pm, $50 for full 5-hour workshop
