Wilderness Monitoring Volunteer Opportunity
9:00 AM Big Snowy Mountains
Description:
This summer, the Wilderness Institute, in cooperation with the Lewis and Clark National Forest, will take small groups of volunteers into the Big Snowy Mountains and Middle Fork Judith River Wilderness Study Areas. Volunteers will work with experienced field leaders to map and monitor weeds, inventory campsites and recreation impacts, and monitor wilderness character. Join us for a 3-5 day backpacking trip in these stunning central Montana Wilderness Study Areas. Learn about invasive species, native plants, monitoring methods, and the natural history and wildlife of these unique island ranges. Backcountry experience is helpful but not necessary. Dinners are provided daily, and transportation is available from Missoula, Helena and select area towns.
