When you join in the Art Walk this First Friday, be sure to stop at Missoula Public Library. The library will display “Altered Book Art” Friday, Aug. 1, 5-8 p.m. as it joins the downtown galleries and museums in promoting our local artists.
MPL’s display is a culmination of the summer-long Altered Book Artwork Contest. Open to children, teens, and adults, the contest challenges residents to tap into their creative juices and transform an old book into a masterpiece. See the imaginative results – books with butterflies flying from the pages, book animals that look ready to walk away, and lots more.
First Friday participants will get a chance to vote for their favorites. One winner in each category – children, teens, and adults – will receive prizes of arts and crafts supplies and gift cards. Sound like fun? Don’t just come to see the art, make one of your own. Artwork can be submitted until library closing Friday, Aug. 1.
