Shibori Fabric Dying

Fee: $63/70 Teens & Adults
Wring, squeeze, press, repeat and learn the ancient Japanese resist dye technique of Shibori. Create distinctive, spontaneous patterns on cotton through stitching, pleating, pinching, twisting, and wrapping. Students will learn a brief history of Shibori practices and patterns, engage in basic techniques, and gain an understanding of working successfully and safely with fiber reactive dyes. At class’ end, students will have a collection of intricately patterned fabrics to stand alone or incorporate into larger textile projects.
