A quick glance at westernmontanafair.com, the official website of the Western Montana Fair, reveals new developments in the rodeo arena. The Missoula Stampede PRCA Rodeos and PBR Challenger Tour have proven so popular with contestants and with fair goers that this year the Western Montana Fair has added a Saturday matinee Rodeo in addition to Thursday night’s PBR, and the Friday and Saturday evening Rodeos. “Our purse increased, “explains Kyle Stensrud, Missoula Stampede Rodeo Committee Chair, “so our contestants increased.” Contestants this year include College National Finals Champion Bull rider Dustin Jenkins as well as several National Finals Rodeo qualifiers and many of the top 20 PRCA cowboys and cowgirls. Tough Enough to Wear Pink, a rodeo fundraiser for breast cancer awareness and support will be at 7pm, Friday, August 8th. Contestants wearing pink earn extra prize money, and fans typically wear pink to show their support. Last year the rodeo raised over $30,000 for Tough Enough to Wear Pink of Montana, funding breast cancer awareness, education, screening, and diagnosis. Stensrud explains the Pink Rodeo’s popularity, saying, “It's a great cause and the rodeo community has always been a group that likes to give back and help out wherever they can.” This year the Western Montana Fair is inaugurating an additional rodeo-related fund raiser, Chicks ‘N Chaps Women’s Rodeo Clinic. Participants will have the chance to learn roping and riding tips from many of Montana’s top cowboys, have photo opportunities, and watch the rodeo from a private VIP area. Proceeds from the $50 registration go to Tough Enough to Wear Pink of Montana. Tickets for all the rodeos and the PBR are on sale at westernmontanafair.com. All seats are reserved.
