Student Leadership Conference Set For March
The tenth annual UM Student Leadership Conference- “The Perfect Storm”- will take place Saturday, March 1, in the University Center.
The conference, sponsored by UM's Center for Leadership Development, includes a series of panels and workshops that offer a variety of perspectives about student leadership and the importance of building future leaders.
Chad Crittenden will speak as a motivating keynote for this event. A year and a half before appearing on Survivor: Vanatu, Chad had his leg amputated below the knee to remove a rare and deadly form of cancer. Chad will tell his story from surgery to Survivor, and help audiences understand that everyone’s life comes with obstacles. His talk will inspire audiences with humor and passion while instilling the importance of taking risks, giving back to the community, and helping the audience to discover new ways to grow.
During this event there will be three breakout sections, where participants have the opportunity to attend one of four speakers in each section. Breakout session leaders will represent a variety of student groups on campus.. Groups being represented at this conference include the UM Admissions Office, the Art Department, Montana Campus Corps, UM Art Gallery, UM Republicans, UM Democrats, UM ROTC, MultiCultural Alliance, and NCBI.
Pre-registration, which includes an etiquette luncheon, is $8 before Feb. 22, and $10 after that date. The etiquette luncheon will be lead by Mr. Manners, a local etiquette advisor. Tickets are available at The Source, located in the University Center. Check- in starts at 8:30 A.M. the day of the conference.
