Dolce Canto and the Missoula Mendelssohn Club Description:
SERENITY & STILLNESS
DOLCE CANTO & MISSOULA MENDELSSOHN CLUB IN CONCERT
December 15, 2012 – 7:30 p.m.
UM Music Recital Hall

Missoula’s premier vocal ensemble Dolce Canto and Artistic Director Peter Park present “Serenity & Stillness” on Saturday, December 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Montana Music Recital Hall. Joining the group will be guest artists the Missoula Mendelssohn Club and cellist Fern Glass Boyd.

Dolce Canto strives to share fresh, innovative choral music with the Missoula community as well as the traditional repertoire that has remained popular throughout the ages. This program will feature familiar carol arrangements by Alice Parker & Robert Shaw, Norman Luboff, and others alongside new compositions by several of today’s most imaginative composers, including Abbie Betinis, Ola
Gjeilo, Patricia Van Ness and Kevin Memley.

Celebrate the spirit of the holiday season with Dolce Canto as they sing music from the sublime to the hilarious that will inspire, warm the soul, and (hopefully) make you smile. It is becoming an annual tradition for Missoula families to listen to Dolce Canto’s gorgeous singing during the holidays. This concert frequently is sold out, so buy your tickets today! Tickets may be purchased at Fact & Fiction, Rockin Rudy’s, or via the choir’s website at www.DolceCanto.info . The cost is $15
for adults and $10 for students.

Dolce Canto is an auditioned, non-profit choral ensemble founded in 2001 that exists to study and perform exceptional choral literature for the benefit, education, and enjoyment of its members and the general public. The ensemble supports its mission through participation in various local, regional and international exchanges that include performance, education and outreach. The group’s first CD, “A Cappella Around The World” was released in October of 2010.

The Missoula Mendelssohn Club, an all-male chorus founded in 1945, is one of Missoula's oldest cultural institutions. The Club has made three tours in Europe, and was the founding organization for the highly successful International Choral Festival. Dean Peterson is the group’s conductor.

Fern Glass Boyd is Professor of Cello at the University of Montana, as well as Artistic Director and Principal Cellist of the String Orchestra of the Rockies and the Missoula Symphony Orchestra. She also performs with the Montana Piano Trio, and teaches courses in music literature, music appreciation, and string music education at the University of Montana.
