Professional Dance Company helps Ring in the New Year
3:00 PM (America/Denver)
Downtown Dance Collective
Description:
Bare Bait Dance, Company in Residence at Missoula's Downtown Dance Collective, is Montana's newest professional dance company. Now in its second year of performing and touring in the state and region, the company creates original, contemporary modern dance in Montana for Montanans. Under the artistic direction of Joy French, BBD blends dance and theatre with original music compositions to surprise, excite, and inspire.
As part of Missoula's New Year's Eve celebration, Bare Bait Dance will be performing excerpts from our two 2012 evening-length dance concerts, "How to Open a Cupboard" and "Views from Grandma's Porch." The excerpts, performed by the company of nine professional dancers, are lively and whimsical with original musical scoring by local Missoula musicians, John Sporman, Bethany Joyce and Geoff Peppos. The First Night show will also include a new piece created and performed by guest performers, Rachel Oliver and Jeanine McCain.
The show will be performed at the Downtown Dance Collective on December 31st at 3pm as part of First Night Missoula. First Night Buttons will be needed for viewing the performance. The DDC is located in the heart of downtown Missoula at 121 West Main Street.
