North America's most unusual woodpecker is a fairly common breeding resident in most of Montana. But across the western U.S. Lewis's Woodpecker is declining and is a species of concern in Montana. Researcher William Blake will describe what factors influence the nesting success and habitat selection of these charismatic birds in the Bitterroot Valley.
