Spring Percussion Concert

Spring Percussion Concert Description:
The Spring Percussion Concert will feature the UM Percussion Ensembles and Islanders Steel Band performing a wide variety of music. The concert kicks off with a percussion orchestra performing Nathan Daughtery's dramatic and exciting piece "FIREFLY." Senior Percussion Performance major Hannah Hutchins will be the featured marimba soloist on Eckhard Kopetski's "Night of Moon Dances" accompanied by a percussion quartet. The first half will close with Eugene Novotney's creative piece entitled "Alone or Together" which is performed by a percussion quartet on buckets with "glow in the dark" sticks. The second half will feature the UM Islanders Steel Band performing Andy Narell's "Calabash," the group Toto's well-known 80's hit "Africa" and a premiere performance of UM Senior Composition major Braydon Matthews' piece "Codextron," an adventurous piece combining salsa, soca and funk elements.
