Lionel Young Band with Special Guest Zeppo MT
6:30 PM (America/Denver)
Missoula Winery
Description:
Fusing together classical training and an exuberant modern energy, The Lionel Young Band "ain't the kind of blues that will bring you down." With his use of the electric violin, Young has managed to develop his own distinct pocket in the world of blues that transcends previous notions of the genre. Blending smooth vocals with vivacious horns, an on point rhythm section, and an overflowing bout of passion and soul, The Lionel Young Band is certainly not a musical experience to miss.

Starting off with an underground presence, The Lionel Young Band made heads turn as this seemingly underground band won the International Blues Challenge in 2011. Lionel Young became the first double champion of the IBC, having won a solo championship in 2008.

Throughout his career, Mr. Young has won numerous awards including: The Young Artist Award (Pittsburgh Symphony); The Concerto Contest (Carnegie-Mellon); The Passamenic Award (Branchwood String Quartet); and the award for the Best Blues Band in Westword's Best of Denver. He's also won a position with The Denver Chamber Orchestra and premiered a solo piece by William Hill.

Lionel has had the honor of working with such show biz luminaries as: Count Basie, Stevie Wonder, Jimmy Paige/Robert Plant, Doc Severenson, Linda Ronstadt, Living Color, Billy Taylor, Woodie Herman, Stanley Turrentine, Homesick James, Homer Brown, Hamlet Bluiett, Chief Bae, and Johnny Long.

Lionel Young Band is making impressive strides towards becoming a dominant and original force on the scene. Playing shows in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles, the band is not only making waves stateside, but is gaining a remarkable following internationally. With several successful shows in Paris, and the Blues Sur Seine Festival in France, The Lionel Young Band is on everyone's radar!
