FALL PERCUSSION CONCERT
With the UM Percussion Ensemble & Islanders Steel Band
The concert will feature a variety of percussion works including: Paschal Dances by David Gillingham for Percussion Orchestra and Children’s Songs by jazz pianist and composer Chick Corea. Two senior percussion majors will be featured on the concert.
Brian Tremper will be the marimba soloist on Julie Spencer’s Ecstatic Sunlight on the Mountain Snow and the ensemble will give a premiere performance of UM Composition major Levi Brown’s The Actuator.
The second half will feature the UM Islanders Steel Band performing the works of Len “Boogsie” Sharpe, one of the greatest composers for the steel band. The group will perform “This Feelin’ Nice,” the beautiful ballad “My Beautiful You” and the tour de force “panorama” tune “Fire Down Below.”
Tickets are only $5 for students, $6 for seniors and $11 for general admission.
