Join us for November's First Friday with art by Carly Prentice!

"Flux" is a exploration of water and our local environment through fabric and mapping by local artist Carly Prentice. Like the bodies of water that inspired it, the work seeks to find a balance between movement and static, chaos and quiet, gentleness and resilience. The body of work is comprised of hand-dyed fabric relief sculptures that draw visual inspiration from topographic mapping. Similar to the way water shapes the earth, persistently wearing it away layer by layer, Carly created the forms by individually layering and forming pieces of cloth to resemble our rivers. While we build our lives up around bodies of water, expecting them to be a constant, the only true constant is that they are always in flux.
