Outdoor Survival 1 & 2
10:00 AM (America/Denver)
Marshall Mountain
Description:
Outdoor survival skills can not only save your life, but they can prepare you for tough circumstances in the wild and in day-to-day situations. GSMW and Missoula Parks & Recreation join forces again to provide girls with a program to change the way girls venture into the wilderness. Through a creative treasure hunt format, professional instructors will teach girls the following skills:
Emergency fire starting
Map & compass/navigation
GPS Geocaching
Animal tracking
Shelter building
Dutch oven cooking
In addition, girls will learn basic wilderness first aid and put together a personal survival kit they can take home. Girls will also get to eat their Dutch oven creations and earn a "Survival Skills" fun patch. Outdoor Survival 1 is for girls in K-5th grade, and Outdoor Survival 2 is for girls in 6th through 12th grade.
The program is $8 for Girl Scouts and $23 for non-Girl Scouts (includes annual membership fee).
