2nd Defending Democracy in the 21st Century Description:
Nancy Leifer, president of the Montana League of Women Voters, will give a presentation on the erosion of democratic principles in the United States on Monday, October 16, at 7:00 pm in the large conference room of the Missoula Public Library. The same presentation will be repeated Tuesday, October 17, at noon in the same location. Both are free and open to the public.Leifer will outline the severity of the challenges that face our democracy and how the League is positioning itself make democracy work in the 21st century. The League of Women Voters was formed nearly 100 years ago with the passage of the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that enfranchised women with the right to vote in federal elections. The first part of the 20th century was also a time when corruption and money in politics were rampant. Sponsored by the Missoula League of Women Voters.
