'Tis almost the season for leg lamps, triple-dog dares, and a coveted Red Ryder BB gun! That means the Missoula Community Theatre will hold an open audition for A Christmas Story: The Musical. This musical version of the hilarious holiday movie classic will be presented at the MCT Center for the Performing Arts Dec. 1-18, 2016.
Auditions will be Sunday, Oct. 2 on the third floor of the MCT Center for the Performing Arts. Please use the Main Street entrance.

Children ages 8-15 may audition 12:30 PM-3:00 PM, and adults 16 and up may audition 3:00 PM-6:00 PM. A 2:30 PM slot is available for family members who wish to audition together. No advance preparation is necessary.

MCT Executive Director, Michael McGill, will direct and music direct A Christmas Story: The Musical, while Eric Heuchert will assist McGIll with the music direction. McGill expects to cast around 40 actors, singers, and dancers. Choreographer Christine Pepin encourages dancers with tap skills to audition. Some of the roles to be cast are the adult "Ralphie" narrator, young "Ralphie," his younger brother "Randy," their "Mother" and "the Old Man," as well as Ralphie's school yard buddies, classmates, and tormentors.

McGill is excited about how fun this show will be for both the cast and the audience. Holiday nostalgia mixed with doses of very funny family realities are the hallmark of this show's humor. The addition of a lively musical score will make this familiar story new to all.

McGill anticipates that the children cast in the show will initially have weekday rehearsals 4:00-6:00 PM, while the adults will rehearse weeknights. Both children and adults may also rehearse Sunday afternoons.
