Saturday Apple Picking at the Moon-Randolph Homestead

Moon-Randolph Homestead
Saturday Apple Picking at the Moon-Randolph Homestead Description:
Western Cider and the Moon-Randolph Homestead are eager to bring you a community cider with over 125 years in the making.

Around 1890, Ray and Luella Moon planted apple trees on a west-facing slope on their claim the North Hills. The heritage trees they planted--Macintosh, Winesap, and Duchess--still produce fruit of fine quality for cider making. This fall, apples picked from the Homestead's trees will be pressed and fermented to make a cider of unique historical provenance.

As the fruit ripens, we'll be shaking it down every Saturday, now through the end of September, to make into cider, as well as to press at the Homestead's largest fundraiser, the Fall Gathering.

We need your help to bring this fruit down from off of the trees. Join us as we pick apples every Saturday, August through September, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Moon-Randolph Homestead. 1515 Spurlock Rd. in Missoula. Length of picking will depend on fruit ripeness and availability.

This special release Homestead cider will be fermented and served at Western Cider in 2018. Proceeds from the sale of the cider will benefit the Moon-Randolph Homestead.

Length of picking will depend on fruit ripeness.
