Sarah Jess Hurt and Please Don't Tell My Dad Art Shows
5:00 PM (America/Denver)
Betty's Divine and Divine Trash Vintage
Description:
September First Friday will be a double dose of art shows at Betty's Divine. Sarahjess Hurt, formerly of Missoula and graduate of the U of M MFA program, will showcase her collection of collections in the main floor of Betty's. Throughout her life Hurt has continually, and strategically, collected and organized found objects. Through collages of these objects, Hurt seeks to further understand the need and affection for objects and ideas that questionably perpetuate the commemoration of places, feelings, and people. In this collection of work, she tells a different story and assigns new value to these once forgotten items.
The second dose of art at Betty's Divine for First Friday will be in celebration of the opening of Divine Trash Vintage, Betty's in-house vintage department! After you wind through Hurt's opening in the Betty's mainspace, come back to Divine Trash for Please Don't Tell My Dad: A one-night-only collective show of obscene, vulgar, and embarrassing art and spoken word poetry. Featuring Courtney Blazon, Nicholas Kakavas, Janj, DonkeyGirl and others who'd rather not be named. No kids, no cops, no creeps. 18 only, and yes we will be checking IDs.
So come by from 5-8, to check out this double whammy of art shows, and as usual, enjoy free wine and Bernice's goodies.
