The Arts :: Art Show
Gallery Opening: Bayla Arietta Artwork
5:30 PM (America/Denver)
Zootown Arts Community Center
Gallery Opening: Bayla Arietta Artwork Description:
Working primarily in watercolors, Bayla draws and paints a variety of subjects split between two worlds. One plane is composed of still and chilly landscapes, where figures frequently act as guides to share an elusive glimpse into their personal narratives, as well as their interactions with the places in which they occur. The other plane is a twisted Rockwell, gritty dystopian depiction, of drinking, dancing, and gun toting youth struggling to find modern meaning in the objects and values of our parents and grandparents. The abandonment of archaic values such as distinctive sexual roles, patriotism, theism, and the transmission of ethnic and popular traditions are juggled with an understanding and respect for nostalgia within a modern era in great need of change. These paintings depict a generation's attempt to reconcile with the passed down values of our society and family, all of which are prescribed, imposed, not earned, gained or chosen. Join us in welcoming the artworks of Bayla Arietta to our gallery at the grand opening August 14, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. If you are unable to attend the show will be on display in the Main Gallery for the month of August. Please stop by during our open hours, 11am to 6pm, Monday through Saturday.
