Reception: Sarah Jaeger – Pots for the Summer Kitchen

Reception: Sarah Jaeger – Pots for the Summer Kitchen Description:
Sarah Jaeger has been a studio potter in Helena since she completed a residency at the Archie Bray Foundation in 1987. Her attention to form and use of sumptuous glazes in her elegant utilitarian ware invite touch and use, integrating a sensual aesthetic experience into the everyday. We are excited to present a solo exhibition of Jaeger's recent functional works during the month of August.

Sarah Jaeger received a BA (in English literature) from Harvard and a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute. In 1996 she was awarded an Individual Artist Fellowship from the Montana Arts Council. In December 2006 she had the distinction of being the only ceramist to be awarded a $50,000 unrestricted Target fellowship from United States Artists. In May of 2007 she was one of the artists profiled in the PBS documentary Craft in America. She has taught at Pomona College, the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and has given workshops at many schools and art centers nationally. Her work is in many public and private collections and, most important, in many kitchens throughout the country.

The exhibition will be on display at the Clay Studio of Missoula from August 1-29, 2014, with an opening on Friday, August 1 from 5:30-9pm. Gallery events are free and open to the public.
