Work Through My Lens Description:
Join Good Jobs Missoula for the first meeting of Work Through My Lens! There are two times to choose from, but it is the same meeting. Weds July 30 at 6pm or Thurs July 31 at 11am.

Info:

Are you a cook, server, host, barista, or another kind of food service worker? You are eligible to participate in a photovoice project called Work Through My Lens. We'll provide cameras, training, snacks. We're also fundraising now to give you a $50 gift card for your time. We plan to bring this exhibit to communities, museums, and to the rotunda of our State Capitol. You will have the opportunity to travel with the photos-- we will pay for this travel. If our Kickstarter raises more than our goal, we will be able to provide more! So please spread the word!

We know you work in food service to pay the bills, but that you also might do it because you love it. Maybe you do it to support the other great things you do in Missoula. We want to show Missoula the whole picture. The best way to do that is to give you the camera.

"Photovoice is a project in which individuals learn the basics of photography and storytelling and then share their own stories using photos. The photographs are then discussed and conversations about issues and assets in the community are started in one of the first steps towards social change.

So often the stories of marginalized individuals and communities have been told by outsiders - if they're told at all. Those who have power and resources at their disposal often speak so loudly that the voices of others are drowned out. Photovoice is an effort to balance conversation by valuing the stories of the previously unheard." - Margaret Cissel, Look Out Loud
