Infuse your studio practice with new ideas and techniques! Learn how to effectively combine wheel thrown and hand build pieces in this full day, demonstration workshop with Deborah Schwartzkopf. Deb will demonstrate and share her techniques on how to alter simple wheel-thrown cylinders and transform them into unique forms. She will also demonstrate how she designs and uses templates to shape slabs and then form them on bisque molds. All of these pieces will be puzzled together, resulting in exciting non-round, expressive shapes.

Workshop participants are highly encouraged to bring questions and join the conversation about making work and setting up a successful pottery studio. Deb will share her experience and give advice on how to in create a fully functional studio from scratch and successfully work with assistants. Other conversational topics will include surface development on ceramic forms, and her approaches in moving clay. She will provide participants with helpful handouts and tips to take home.
