Experience living history with Perri Knize during “A Ride Back in Time to the Rocky Mountain Rendezvous Era” at Frenchtown Pond State Park’s West Shelter on Saturday, June 30th at 7:00pm.

This event is FREE, open to the public and great for all ages.

About the program:

Become immersed in life as it was during the Rendezvous Era, from 1825 to 1840, when trappers of the Rocky Mountains forged trails that American pioneers would later follow. Dressed as a woman traveler of the period, Knize tells the story of the Rendezvous and demonstrates her period-correct clothing, tools, horse tack and equipment. With images and video, she recounts her living history horse trek with the American Mountain Men into an authentic modern-day rendezvous. Prepare to learn about this fascinating era during a lively evening!

Perri Knize, of Helena, Mont., is a long-time public lands policy reporter who has written for National Geographic, The Atlantic Monthly, Audubon, Outside, Sports Illustrated, and many other publications. She taught journalism at the University of Montana and has served as a writing coach in the Missoula public schools. She is the author of Grand Obsession: A Piano Odyssey and is at work on a novel set in the Rendezvous era.
