50th Anniversary of the Dances of Universal Peace!
4:00 PM (America/Denver)
Har Shalom
Description:
The first Dance of Universal Peace happened in San Francisco on June 24th 1968!
The Dances were introduced by Murshid Samuel Lewis, an American mystic whose wisdom and clarity was recognized by saints and sages from many traditions.

Since then, more than half a million people have participated all over the world. There are 1200 regular Dance circles in North America alone, and there will be dozens of events in over 20 countries celebrating the 50th Anniversary. Video clips of our event will be edited with others around the world to make a 50th Anniversary video!

This Anniversary event will combine dance, music, meditation, prayer, and multi-cultural celebration. We will chant and move to sacred phrases from various spiritual traditions with live music. When we breathe and move in harmony, we align our nervous systems, and allow what is to be simply present.

The mood is variable, evoking feelings such as love, exuberant joy, peace, and compassion.

Words are few and repeated many times so learning is easy. No musical or dance experience needed. The leader teaches the words, melody, and movements before each dance.

Everyone who can appreciate joyful and meditative circle dances is welcome. One need not bring a partner.

After the Dances, those who wish are invited to stay to share food, stories, and laughter.

$5-20 optional donation.
