Homesteader Workshop: Chicken Care for the Small Flock
10:00 AM (America/Denver)
Moon-Randolph Homestead
Description:
The Homesteader Workshop Series is a three-part series of agricultural-themed workshops hosted by the Missoula Urban Demonstration (MUD) Project and the Moon-Randolph Homestead. Workshops are held on-site at the Moon-Randolph Homestead, a working, historic homestead. Workshops are hands-on and geared towards backyard farmers and gardeners wanting to build specific skills to enhance their small-scale farming operations. Workshop content is targeted towards adults or older youth, but families are welcome as there is plenty of room at the Homestead to play and explore.

Co-superintendents of the Western Montana Fair Poultry department Laura Denitto and Kristin Whisennand will teach participants about the key needs and considerations for the healthy backyard chicken flock. You’ll learn about city regulations, basics of chicken care, what to expect when having a couple of hens around your home, coop considerations, disease and pest management, while interacting with the Moon-Randolph Homestead’s flock of 40 laying hens and two roosters.

Each workshop is $5.00 for MUD members and $10.00 for non-members.

Pre-register for the workshop at the MUD Square Marketplace, available
