The Clay Studio of Missoula is proud to present a solo exhibition featuring the ceramic works of recent artist in residence and current studio manager Donna Flanery. Playful painted animal characters envelop the surfaces of her pottery, referencing the narrative forms of children's books and comic books. A sequence develops from the use of three-dimensional space. Often, two distinct sides create the narrative. Different views reveal new information as the viewer walks around the piece or moves it in their hands. Because both sides are never viewed in the same moment, both space and time are needed in the telling.

Donnareceived an MFA in Ceramics from the University of Florida, 2013. In 2005, she completed a BFA at the University of Montana, and an AA from The College of Southern Idaho in 2003. Between academic endeavors was a resident artist at The Archie Bray Foundation, The Clay Studio of Missoula, The Northern Clay Center, The Pottery Workshop, Shanghai, and at The Zentrum fur Keramic, Berlin.

Window Gazing: Recent Works by Donna Flanery will be on display at the Clay Studio of Missoula from June 2-30, 2017, with an opening on Friday, June 2, from 5:30-9pm. Gallery events are free and open to the public.
