Western Montana sportsmen can learn about the health and habits of the region's elk populations at Hellgate Hunters and Anglers' 5th annual State of the Elk address next Wednesday, May 25. Spring flight surveys, trend data, cow/calf ratios and collar data are just a few of the topics slated for discussion at the popular event, where Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Region 2 Wildlife Manager Mike Thompson also will be addressing a range of management challenges currently faced by the office.
