Description:
Bring your lunch and an open mind!

On Friday, May 22nd, from noon to 1 p.m. YWCA Missoula will host a screening of, "Missing: The Documentary" at the YWCA main office (1130 W. Broadway). The film draws attention to the number of missing and murdered indigenous women of Canada. According to the 2009 Juristat (Statistics Canada), Aboriginal women are three times more likely to experience violent victimization than non-Aboriginal women. In addition, they are significantly over-represented as victims of homicide. Ann Douglas-Sinclair will facilitate a brief discussion at the conclusion of the film screening.

Douglas-Sinclair is a member of the Blackfeet tribe, mother of three children, and graduate student in the clinical psychology program at the University of Montana (UM). Currently, she works on the Flathead reservation in the Behavioral Health Department and she is also an intern at the Student Advocacy Resource Center (SARC) at UM.

This screening and discussion are part of a regularly occurring monthly series called, "YW Talks: A Community Social Justice Series." YW Talks provides the Missoula community with a space to discover and exchange information about topics that pertain to women and those of diverse ethnic backgrounds. Community members are welcome to bring their lunch and enjoy the free lecture.
