Endangered Species Day in the Rose Park Neighborhood
2:00 PM
The "triangle park" in the Rose Park Neighborhood
In celebration of Endangered Species Day, Rose Park neighbors will be planting native (showy) milkweed in the "triangle park" on the corner of Mount & Plymouth on Friday, May 19 from 2:00-4:00pm. Milkweed is an important food source for the monarch butterfly, and the 90 percent decline in the North American monarch population is attributed in part to the eradication of this key food source. Planting a "butterfly garden" can create wildlife habitat right in your own community. Please join us! Bring gloves and a shovel if you have them. Event sponsored by the Endangered Species Coalition and the Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium. Glenn Marangelo from the Insectarium will do a short presentation on the life history of the monarch butterfly during a "work break." Email dgoldman@endangered.org if you have questions. Hope to see you there!
