This solo exhibition features the work artist in residence Lilly Zuckerman has been developing during her two year residency at the Clay Studio of Missoula.

After growing up and going to school in Pennsylvania until the age of 23, moving to Montana to be a resident at the Clay Studio of Missoula was her great adventure. As a child on a farm Lilly was exposed to life cycles; animals giving birth and animals dying. Away from the city lights, the Milky Way was finally revealed. Playing in the dirt, she handled sticky clay for the first time. Researching contemporary ceramics in Morocco put her in a foreign landscape and she was most influenced by adobe architecture. Lilly's recent visual research residency kayaking a wetlands wildlife refuge in Mississippi made prominent the horizon line of large bodies of water. Pinching clay is uncomplicated and distills so many places, ideas, life experiences, and shapes, forcing them to all exist in her hands between her finger and thumb.
