Join us on Friday, April 24 at noon at YWCA Missoula for "Bearing Witness on the U.S.-Mexico Border," a lecture by University of Montana professor Janet Finn, and students Shaunagh McGoldrick, Sarah Fielding, and Liz Bassler. The presenters will address their experiences "bearing witness" to social justice and human rights issues on the U.S. Southern border and the impacts on the lives of women in the area. Additionally, the presentation will include stories of some of the inspirational activist work taking place on both in the U.S. and Mexico.

Janet Finn is a professor of social work at The University of Montana and faculty member in International Development Studies and the Women and Gender Studies programs. She holds a master's degree from Eastern Washington University and a doctorate in social work and anthropology from the University of Michigan. Her interests are in the areas of community practice, gender, youth and social work in a global context. She has conducted community-based research with women and grassroots organizations in Montana and Chile. She has authored and edited numerous books and articles about community, women, childhood, youth, social justice, and transnational issues.

"YW Talks: A Community Social Justice Series" provides the Missoula community with a space to discover and exchange information about topics that pertain to women and those of diverse ethnic backgrounds. Community members are welcome to bring their lunch and enjoy the free lecture.
