Description:
Join the the Missoula Writing Collaborative on Saturday, April 22 for a day of writing around Missoula! Participants register for classes in the morning, afternoon or both, and everyone is invited to join our staff for wine and conversation at the end of the day at the Radius Gallery.

10 am - 12 pm
- Poetry with Sheryl Noethe (Fact & Fiction): Using Anne Carson and Jorie Graham as models of conflation, learn the art of merging two different texts to create a new poem.
- Memoir with Jolene Brink (Boyle Deveny & Meyer): Use history, mythology and memory to craft your unique story.
- Fiction with Dana Fitz Gale (Shakespeare & Company): Learn how to use character, pacing and mystery to create tension in fiction.

2 pm - 4 pm
- Building a Writing Practice with Emily Freeman (Fact & Fiction): How to get started, how to keep it up when the going gets tough, and how to identify the next steps.
- Personal Essay with Fred Haefele (Shakespeare & Company): Write a personal essay deeply rooted in the natural world.
- Parent & Child Reunion with Caroline Patterson (Boyle Deveny & Meyer): For children and parents to create a poetic conversation.

4:30 pm - 5:30pm
All participants are invited to join Missoula Writing Collaborative instructors and friends at the end of the day for wine and conversation at the Radius Gallery.

COST:
1 two-hour class: $17 students
1 two-hour class: $28 general public
2 two-hour classes: $30 students
2 two-hour classes: $50 general public

About The Missoula Writing Collaborative:
Each year we teach over 1,500 kids to love to write. Founded in 1994, we teach literary competence, critical thinking, cultural awareness, and artistic joy through creative writing. We place writers in school classrooms, after-school programs, youth homes and other venues to show young people the power of words and help them find their voices as writers.
