47th Annual Kyiyo Pow Wow
5:00 PM (America/Denver)
University of Montana
Description:
The Kyiyo Native American Student Association will be hosting the 47th Annual Kyiyo Pow Wow on April 17th & 18th, 2015 at the University of Montana's Adams Center. This pow wow is one of the oldest student-run pow wows in the country.
The Kyiyo Native American Student Association plays an integral role in promoting the cultural traditions and customs of all Native Americans. Through extra-curricular activities throughout the year, Kyiyo hopes to engage the faculty and students of the University of Montana in the cultural identities of Native Americans to support cultural diversity on campus. Kyiyo is open to any Native American and non-native students, as well as any community members who wish to become members. The club is a chartered member of the Associated Students of the University of Montana (ASUM).
The theme for this year's pow wow is "We are Montana". First and foremost, club members are students and are proud to be a link between the Native American community and the University of Montana. The club also felt this theme embodied the idea that Native culture and history has always been a part of Montana's identity as a state and will continue on with future generations.
