The Impact of Family Planning Services
12:00 PM (America/Denver)
YWCA Missoula
Description:
Angel Nordquist, outreach educator for Planned Parenthood Montana, will discuss how family planning services are on the attack both locally and nationally during this month's Women's Voices Brown Bag Series (formerly the Brown Bag Lunch Series) on Friday, April 13, from noon to 1 p.m. at YWCA Missoula.
"Instead of determining health care needs based on what's best for themselves and their families with their doctor, women fight for basic health care including lifesaving cancer screenings," Nordquist said.
Medicaid expansion in Montana would provide up to 4,000 women who earn up to 200 percent of the federal poverty level with family planning services, according to Nordquist.
The Women's Voices Brown Bag Series is a component of YWCA Missoula's Women's Economic Advancement initiative. Each season, which follows the academic calendar, provides the Missoula community a space to discover and exchange information about topics that are pertinent to women.
