Dear Missoula Business, Organizations, or Community Member,
Greetings; my name is Jake Riekana, a senior at Big Sky High School. I have played rugby for the Missoula Mud Dogs for three years and with the Trolls for two. I started playing rugby because of my brother Jack and so did the rest of my family. Rugby has become a big part of my life. On December 18, 2012 my brother Jack committed suicide. With the loss of Jack it left a hole in our family that rugby was able to fill. With each game I play it brings remembrance of him and how we got started with rugby. With this unexpected tragedy it brought up a question of how many of us are actually aware of the "Signs of Suicide". The process of learning about these inspired us to pave the way to help bring awareness and help to our community.

Unfortunately this past September and October 2016 Teen Suicide hit the Missoula community again with the tragic loss of Big Sky High School's Jacob Burditt and Hellgate High School's Corbin Doty. Thankfully there are support programs out there and Suicide prevention hot lines (voice and texting). With your help and support we can continue to raise the awareness of Teen Suicide in our community through the Jack Riekena Memorial Rugby tournament.
With this event we can all come together and help put an end to this problem and show people there are signs of suicide and there are places that will help during these times of need for people who are struggling with this problem.
