Free Film: Jailed for their Words...in Wartime America
12:00 PM
Missoula Public Library
Description:
Cautionary Tales for a Nation: The Missoula League of Women Voters is hosting a free film showing at their March 21st Brown Bag Lunch event, from noon-1- pm at the Missoula Public Library. "Jailed for their Words: When Freedom Died in Wartime America" is about Montana's Sedition Act of 1918. It documents how a nation's principles - even a citizen's rights to speak their mind - were severely eroded by fear, wartime hysteria and super-patriotic paranoia during WWI. The film was produced by Gita Saedi Kiely and Clemens Work of the UM School of Journalism.
