Christ the King Parish is pleased to present the inaugural lecture of the John Henry Cardinal Newman Lecture Series. Marie Dennis will present the lecture entitled “Active Nonviolence: A Paradigm Shift to a More Peaceful World.”

Marie Dennis has been Co-President of Pax Christi International since 2007 and was for many years director of the Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns. Marie was named the 2016 person of the year by the National Catholic Reporter and is a Public’ Peace Prize laureate. She is author or co-author of seven books and editor of the forthcoming Orbis Book, Choosing Peace: The Catholic Church Returns to Gospel Nonviolence. Marie is a lay woman, a mother of six and a member of Assisi Community in Washington DC.
