Concert at First Presbyterian Church
7:00 PM (America/Denver)
First Presbyterian Church
Description:
On March 17, 2018 at 7:00 PM, there will be a benefit concert at First Presbyterian Church in Missoula, Montana. The Best of Bannack, a string band, will be performing to celebrate 103 years of the church that Norman Maclean (author of A River Runs Through It) grew up in. Norman's father was the pastor who helped raise funds for the construction of the original building, which still houses a vibrant community of Christian faith today. There will be a number of songs played that were tunes that the Macleans heard back when the Church was constructed in 1915. This performance is dedicated to First Presbyterian Church of Missoula’s history and the fact that even now, “A River Runs Through It."

The Best of Bannack consists of musicians from 10 bands and three states. The string band has played together for Bannack Days in Bannack, which was the original territorial capital of Montana, in some combination for nearly 25 years. They will be playing a collection of music ranging from the 1700s to 1950. The Best of Bannack exclusively plays for special functions, such as fundraisers for charitable organizations. In addition to the music, you can expect to learn some history along with social commentary surrounding the time, the place and the significance of each song included.

This is a free concert. Contributions will be accepted to preserve and restore the stained glass windows of this historic church.
