Rosen Movement: Reconnecting to Ease
12:00 PM (America/Denver)
Red Willow Learning Center
Description:
Rosen Movement: Reconnecting to Ease
Elaine Condor
Red Willow Learning Center, Missoula MT

This series of 4 to 6 Rosen Movement classes would be geared towards folks who want to be more accepting of their bodies and feel more grounded, comfortable, and authentic moving in the world. Rosen Movement uses simple range of motion exercises to bring participants into greater awareness and deeper experience of their bodies. The exercises are set to music and paced to encourage enjoyment, ease and efficiency of motion, while they lubricate joints, gently stretch muscles, help improve balance and rhythm, and deepen the breath. These classes are not meant to be cardiovascular "workouts" but intended rather to provide a friendly environment for participants to gently increase their level of comfort with being embodied, moving to music, and connecting with others. In a Rosen Movement class the driven "no pain, no gain" mentality of our culture is replaced by a refreshing reminder of how efficient it can be to move from a place of ease. The atmosphere of the classes is light hearted, the exercises are simple, non-strenuous yet energizing and gently stimulating. The class invites participation without competition or the need to perform. Rosen Movement is a gentle way to exercise not only the body, but also one's ability to "show up" be seen, and participate in an authentic, embodied way.

Elaine Conor: I have been a certified massage therpaist for 20 years, practicing in Missoula since 1993. My interest in the somatic field began in 1990 when I attended massage school in Sante Fe, New Mexico and was introduced to Rosen Bodywork. I completed training at the Somatic Therapy Institute in Sante Fe in 1992 and began studying Rosen Method Bodywork in Berkely, California in 2001, becoming a certified practitioner in 2005. During that training I was introduced to Rosen Movement, participating in classes over the years and in 2009 completed the year long Rosen Movement training in Berkeley. Since returning to Missoula, I have held introductory Rosen Movement classes and worked collaboratively to present Rosen Movement combined with yoga at the Women's Club, and as a part of the a Somatic Awareness Training for the staff at Partnership for Children. It is my goal to share the benefits of Rosen, both the bodywork and movement, with the Missoula community.
