Description:
Missoula Children and Nature Network (MCNN) is hosting a free snowshoeing outing for children and their families from 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014. Participants will get an introduction to snowshoeing, games on snowshoes, and exploring on snowshoes. This family snowshoeing day is sponsored by Montana Natural History Center and REI. The event will be led by a Montana Natural History Center naturalist and is part of MCNN's "Got Nature?" monthly passport program.
Interested participants should call Alex Kuennen to reserve their FREE snowshoes, FREE transportation available to the first dozen to register. Meet at Montana Natural History Center, 120 Hickory Street, at 9:30am with intent to return by 3pm.
This introductory activity is designed for those who have little or no snowshoeing experience, although all Missoula-area youth are encouraged to participate. It is free and open to children aged 8 years and up; however, an adult must accompany all children. Children who attend this event will receive a "Got Nature?" passport card stamp; completed 2014 passport cards are redeemable for an award. Please dress appropriately including layers and waterproof or water-resistant footwear and bring lunch.
The Missoula Children and Nature Network (MCNN) is an affiliation of organizations, agencies, businesses, and individuals committed to the goal of connecting youth with the natural world. Each month, MCNN offers one or more free, family-oriented, nature-based events through the "Got Nature?" passport program.
