BSDFF - Shorts Block 12 Description:
I Have Something to Tell You: A fine-art photographer turns to his craft to cope with his HIV/AIDS diagnosis in the acclaimed portrait series “I Have Something to Tell You.”

Beatrice: Beatrice Vio started fencing on her feet when she was five years old. A bout with meningitis at eleven not only left her with all four of her limbs amputated, but it completely shifted her relationship with the sport she loves. With the unconditional support of her family, Beatrice proves her adherence to the circumstances by becoming a world champion at the age of nineteen. BEATRICE is a window into the extraordinary life of a young woman fighting for what matters most to her, all the while defying the limitations and expectations of the human condition.

Mickey's Pets: The National Taxidermy Championships is an annual event that looks for taxidermists that are the best at their craft. Mickey is a young taxidermist participating in her first year at the event. With her trusty peacock, Mickey must overcome her insecurities in order to win first place at the world-renowned competition.

Coach Nison: Nison Aranov was saved from a troubled youth the day he met his table tennis coach in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. 40 years later, he has a ping pong club of his own in the basement of a parking garage in Brooklyn where he trains the next generation of champions - most notably, a mega-talented Israeli immigrant named Mishel. Nison believes Mishel has what it takes to make the American national team, but his skills will be put to the test at a tournament that attracts the best talent in the country.

The Human Face: Kazuhiro Tsuji’s artistry lies within his keen interest and ability to bring to light the intricacies of the human face through sculpture. THE HUMAN FACE expresses how the minuscule details of the human face are simply the tip of the iceberg for us to understand the thoughts and emotions hidden underneath.

Edith Eddie: Edith and Eddie, ages 96 and 95, are America’s oldest interracial newlyweds. Their love story is disrupted by a family feud that threatens to tear the couple apart.
