How to Have a Compassionate Heart with Namchak Khenpo
7:00 PM (America/Denver)
The Ewam Buddhist Center and Tibetan Store
Description:
You are invited to take part as Namchak Khenpo teaches on Shantideva's Way of the
Bodhisattva during this special 4-week Thursday evening series about compassion
beginning on Valentine's Day at the Ewam Buddhist Center in Missoula, MT. Namchak
Khenpo will offer this in-depth study of the book and its contents. Shantideva's The Way
of the Bodhisattva is one of the most profound texts ever written about bodhicitta, or
compassion. His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, has been quoted as saying, "If I have any
understanding of compassion and the practice of the bodhisattva path, it is entirely on
the basis of this text that I possess it."
Namchak Khenpo, the brother and spiritual
heir of Tulku Sang-ngag Rinpoche, the
founder of The Garden of One Thousand Buddhas, was born in
Eastern Tibet in 1965. As a young monk, Khenpo studied all aspects
of Buddhism, including ritual arts and chanting. Khenpo traveled to
Mysore, India where he had the good fortune to meet His Holiness,
Penor Rinpoche and begin studying at His Holiness's Nyingma
College, Namdrol Ling Shedra. He graduated after nine years as a
Do-Ngag Rabjampa, Master of Sutra and Tantra, the highest
academic degree. He spends his time in Nepal and as resident Abbot
at Ewam Sang-ngag Ling in Arlee, MT.
