In this exhibit, digital photographer Anne Cruikshank and landscape painter Deborah Traer create a mash-up showcase, bringing together their two dissimilar yet cohesive bodies of work to explore the power of atmosphere.

Cruikshank's work takes both photos of forgotten ancestors and mass-produced artworks and changes a solitary detail to become something else entirely. The aim of these works is to show that though art need not have meaning, it must be meaningful; that is, the interpretation need not be fixed and immutable but that artwork should elicit a response in the viewer.

Meanwhile, Traer's paintings aim to capture the ever-changing mood of nature. By conveying the feelings/memory of a place, and not just a literal description, she explores how the individual derives such memories of nature from their own history and experiences.
